You have always wanted to change the world, to truly change it, and you are a positive person, a person who wants to "put a dent in the universe", as Steve Jobs would say; or maybe you have reached an impasse: you have many ideas, but you do not know how to put them into practice. If you relate to any of the above, keep reading. This MOOC Jovesolides is launching through Red CreaActiva can help you in your efforts to make this world a better place.
The course stemmed from the interest of 8 international organizations, from Europe and America, in strengthening the capacities of social and academic organizations. The ultimate goal of the InnovaT program, which encompasses these organisations, is to encourage social entrepreneurship among young people.
This MOOC is specially designed for young people and any organisation that works with youth. Its main goal is to provide practical training to encourage entrepreneurship, creativity and the involvement of people in social change through social innovation.
To attain all this—which can actually be attained, as chimerical as it may sound—the course puts into practice the activities of the game TWIST-THINKING, a card game which fosters the values of social entrepreneurship and promotes small initiatives with a positive social impact in a practical, collaborative and creative manner.
The MOOC can be completed individually, with a view to sharing its teachings later in group trainings. The course participants will have to do some practical exercises on creativity techniques, and they will also be requested to use some basic ITC tools and materials.
The course consists of five modules:
Module 1: What is social entrepreneurship? In this module you will learn the main principles that define social entrepreneurship. (1 activity)
Module 2: Training creativity. This second module provides the participants with the opportunity of putting their own creativity into practice. (3 activities)
Module 3: Exploring your ideas. Once the social challenge has been identified, we must consider what issues need to be taken into account to address it and identify possible alternatives to generate ideas—which may be crazy, different or simply viable—to help find the most innovative solution. (3 activities)
Module 4: From idea to project. Building useful and value-added strategies to achieve the proposed social challenge. (1 activity)
Module 5: Communicating your idea to the world. Designing creative digital tools and engaging communication techniques to share and communicate the final idea. (3 activities)
These areas will be covered by means of the CSSP (Creative Solutions for Social Problems) methodology, a complete toolkit which will help you look at your surroundings from a different perspective and work passionately towards your goals. This methodology, developed and tested by Red CreaActiva, strengthens the process of social innovation by involving all types of social agents related to the same social challenge and generating enriching and innovative practices, approaches and experiences in order to improve the quality of people’s lives.
In short, this course offers a first-hand experience of what being a social entrepreneur is. You will learn by doing, with the innovation tools that Red CreaActiva offers to transform ideas into real projects focused on people. It doesn’t sound bad at all, does it? You should take your ideas forward, because, as Theodore Levitt once said, "Ideas are useless unless used.”
InnovaT is funded by the European Union and is part of the key action to promote capacity building in the field of youth in Latin American and European countries.
